Welcome address from Alexey Grom, CEO, Chairman of the Board of the United Transport and Logistics Company – Eurasian Rail Alliance (UTLC ERA)

I invite you to take part in the International Container Transportation Online Forum  PRO//Motion.Eurasia.

In 2020 the global supply chains of goods between Europe and Asia were disrupted by coronavirus pandemic.

During this period the railway has almost become the only way to support trade between Europe and Asia and, what is most important, an interrupted delivery channel of antiepidemic agents. This period is characterized by “modal shift” phenomena meaning that traditional role of railway transport in the global supply chains as additional to maritime transport has changed. And we see a significant shift in traffic volumes to transit rail services.

For the first time many cargo owners have realized benefits of railway transportation.

I would also like to note how strongly the railway industry itself has rallied in the Eurasian area. Communications between all transportation process participants have significantly improved. We see more networking, more exchange of information and joint development plans. The will to establish new records and move further has become common.

It is highly important not to disappoint expectations of the clients and partners, who entrusted us their cargo for the first time, and to give start to new projects, which will enable further growth.

PRO//Motion Eurasia Forum is a new communication platform for challenges and opportunities of Trans-Eurasian transportation and its role in the modern economy. I am sure, that an open dialogue of all participants of railway container transportation China – Europe – China will contribute to achieving a higher level of coordinated interaction to increase competitiveness of Eurasian transport corridors.
